Yes, it was a busy working day, and I can't explain why I was cruising through Valley Fair at 2:00-ish on Wednesday, but I have another story to talk about rather than my detour from my Apple Store jaunt.
On my way out ( via Macy's, of course) there was a new kiosk by the escalators for Ebay's new big deal: Instant Sale. But what is Instant Sale?
On Ebay's website, Instant Sale looks to be web based only and It's for electronics.
Go to their site: Ebay Instant Sale and just follow their directions. It's pretty straight forward and the best part is, you will get money for your old electronics and the whole thing works out in minutes. The only thing you need to do is make sure you have a PayPal account and - of course, ship your item.
The key component is that since all the eletronics are a known commodity, you can find your item and see what the current offer is for it. If you like it, take the offer and ship your item. Oh, and the shipping is on Ebay. So that's pretty nice.
So What's this thing with Ebay Instant Sale at the mall? Well, it only seems to be at Valley Fair in San Jose, California (Ebay is in San Jose, CA by the way.) and the kiosk displayed the sign: Drop it Off, Get Paid, Go Holiday Shop!
It looks like you can just bring your electronics in and see if there is an offer already waiting for your type of electronics. Ebay will ship it for you. Get paid? Happens on the spot.
Making money, and doing something good for the environment. That's innovative.
